The Assistant Service Manager is responsible for assisting the Service Manager in running an efficient and profitable Service Center through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, achievement of objectives, and maintenance of all service records. Ensure that the daily inventory of Technician’s time is consistently sold to customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists in the responsibility for the operation of a service department. This includes, but is not limited to service financial performance, safety, customer service and management of entire staff.
· Monitors and controls the performance of the department using appropriate reports, tracking systems.
· Lead by example and ensure the entire staff is providing superior customer service
· Maintain positive working relationships with sales, branch operations, parts vendors and corporate office.
· Motivate and lead Technicians to perform a variety of tasks that all lead to one common objective.
· Train and develop service employees. Facilitates and/or conducts technical training and sends employees to appropriate training schools as needed.
· Supervise in monitoring technicians' daily productivity reports.
· Monitors and follows up on parts orders with the parts manager to ensure availability.
· Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
· Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
· Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
· Ensures that customers' service files are up-to-date and readily available for reference.
· Assists in handling customer complaints immediately and according guidelines.
· Maintains safe and clean work environment.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
· High School Diploma or equivalent required
· Knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite
· Post secondary education in Diesel Technology preferred
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
· Minimum 4 years’ experience as a diesel technician in the heavy duty truck parts industry required, with a minimum of 2 years of service center leadership experience.
· Extensive knowledge of aftermarket products and services, repair principles and procedures in the heavy duty truck parts industry
SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Ability to manage projects, motivate, train, and direct service employees
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Must possess a clean motor vehicle driving record
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks under
