The Assistant Civil Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects. The Assistant Civil Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
Project work includes design of electrical substations; both overhead and underground high-voltage transmission lines. The market is continuing to evolve due to technology advancements and policy changes. Projects partner with utilities to design, plan, and improve the modern electric grid. Civil tasks with the group include:
Site access design (truck-turning movements/modeling).Site grading earthwork modeling (balancing cut/fill).Selection placement of soil erosion sediment controls (per state or local guidelines).Watershed delineation and modeling (hydrology).Design of storm drain, culvert, swale, and spillway sizing (hydraulics).Selection sizing of stormwater best management practices (per state or local guidelines).Utility (water/sewer) service connections to public mains.Assisting with Civil construction specifications, quantity take-offs, and bidding support.Review of contractor submittals, RFIs and as-built preparation.Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.All other duties as assigned.
