This position is located in Roseville and will have the option to telework, reporting to the office at least one day/week. The employee is required to complete a telework agreement.
This position will provide specialized guidance to statewide traffic electrical systems design and operations for traffic control signals and to support roadway lighting; to review, coordinate and develop uniform statewide policies, procedures, and standards for signal and lighting design and operation. The responsibilities include:
· Managing and working on traffic signal related projects.
· Exercise supervisory authority so that applicable labor agreements and plans are equitably administered, and employees will effectively perform assigned job duties to achieve the annual objectives of the section.
· Coordinate with Metro District and Greater Minnesota Districts on signal operations and signal shared services.
· Represent interests of non-Metro districts in signal design and operation decisions.
· Provide technical support for traffic electrical systems training programs.
· Coordinate and manage the evaluation of new products and methods for traffic electrical designs and operation.
· Act as technical liaison for miscellaneous research and implementation projects.
· Provide engineering assistance to MnDOT’s Connected and Automated Vehicle Program with a focus on traffic signal control devices.
**Minimum Qualifications**

Licensure as an Electrical or Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity (reciprocity), a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
AND
Three years of experience as an Engineer Senior or equivalent that demonstrates the following:
+ Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of traffic signal design and operation.
+ Knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code.
+ Knowledge of general electrical principles.
+ Ability to review technical information and arrive at solutions to problems.
+ Supervisory experience sufficient to enforce and communicate MnDOT’s policies, personnel rules, and collective bargaining agreements.
**Preferred Qualifications**
· Certification by the Transportation Professional Certification Board Inc. as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer
· Field knowledge of traffic signal and lighting construction issues.
· Knowledge and application of roadway lighting design.
· Knowledge and application of systems engineering processes.
· Knowledge and application of the National ITS Architecture.
· Knowledge and application of National ITS equipment and communications standards.
· Knowledge of Structural engineering.
