Our client a leading outdoor and lifestyle retailer is searching for an Assistant Manager for their outlet based in Springfield Park Durban The successful candidate will be required to assist the Store Manager by managing key functional areas of the outlet

Key performance areas
Achieve set sales and revenue targets and maintain required margins
Manage all aspects of merchandising for apparel footwear accessories and equipment in the store including signage etc
Demonstrate and drive high levels of customer service
Supervises the store employees in the areas of loss prevention customer services  
Provides management advice to staff on problems/store emergencies
Verifies and monitors hours worked by temps on time sheets controls overtime usage etc
Management of expenses to ensure they do not exceed budget eg telephone stationery petty cash purchase orders etc
Stock management
Prepares reports describing store activities eg weekly and monthly reports shortage and cyclic counts report  
Oversees stock counts
Monitors and orders all store operating and merchandising suppliers eg signage basket tags
Cash management including opening and closing of store in accordance with established policies and procedures
Oversees daily cash reconciliation and bank deposit procedures
Manage all store functions in the absence of the Store Manager
Perform any and all duties normally assigned to subordinate staff to maintain staff coverage and to lead by example

Requirements
4 to 6  years store management experience with experience within an active/ outdoor/ sports retail company being an advantage
Post matric/ tertiary qualification would be advantageous
Knowledge of retail operations including Sales and Customer Service Merchandising and promotional techniques inventory control and loss prevention  
Strong analytical and negotiation skills are a must  
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds such as customers other employees and management staff will secure
PC literacy in Ms Office and sound reporting skills

Salary Competitive market related plus quarterly incentives based on revenue performance
