Job Title: Assistant Superintendent
Location: Charleston, SC
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Superintendent to support the daily operations of our construction projects. Reporting to the Superintendent, you will assist with coordinating project schedules, managing subcontractors, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This hands-on role requires leadership, attention to detail, and effective communication with all project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning:
Assist the Superintendent in reviewing the project startup packet, plans, specifications, and submittals before mobilization.
Identify areas of concern within the project scope, coordination, and constructability details.
2. Scheduling & Communication:
Support the Superintendent in coordinating and executing the project schedule.
Ensure subcontractor compliance with the schedule and aid in producing the 3-Week Schedule.
Maintain effective communication with the project team, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure successful project phase completion.
3. Execution:
Assist in overseeing daily operations at the construction site, including supervising field personnel, subcontractors, and trades.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the construction process to minimize disruptions to the project timeline.
4. Quality & Safety:
Monitor and enforce quality control standards to ensure work meets contract specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
Assist in enforcing safety protocols and OSHA standards to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel.
5. Documentation:
Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, site conditions, work logs, and meeting minutes.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Field Management/Construction experience preferred, but not required.
Strong willingness to learn and a drive to become a Superintendent.
Education:
Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required.
Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with construction processes, scheduling software (e.g., Procore), and blueprint reading is essential.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications:
OSHA 30-Hour Certification and First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work on a construction site, including standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position with occasional travel required to project sites.
Some evening and weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
Work environment will vary based on project locations, including both office and construction site settings.
