D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Assistant Superintendent. The right candidate will assists the Superintendent with the management of the community job site as it relates to home construction while providing excellent customer service. This includes but is not limited to assisting in scheduling and supervising job site subcontractors, maintaining quality standards, cost management, homeowner walk-throughs, inspections, community maintenance and upkeep, and enforcing safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Inspect each home daily to assure the quality of workmanship, ensure all work is in accordance with plans and specifications, determine the status as it compares to the production scheduleSchedule and walk all inspections with inspectorsWalk each completed home before the homeowner walk-through and closing sign-off to ensure the home is complete, clean, and meets standards of quality. Note outstanding homeowner walk-through items and schedule repairsConduct homeowner orientation and any additional walks ensuring homeowner satisfactionAid Superintendent to ensure subcontractors are managed and continually evaluated on quality, safety, scheduling and cost control measuresEnforce the site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with company standards and all applicable safety codes and regulationsEnforce DR Horton cleanliness standards – Ensure communities and jobsites are free of trash waste materials.Assist Superintendent in managing construction materials to help prevent damage, waste, theftSupport the construction schedule and ensure the highest quality product is delivered on time and within budgetProvide a superior level of customer service during all phases of construction Develop and maintain positive relations with subcontractors and homeownersDevelop knowledge in building codes, construction materials, methodologies, terminology and construction schedulingIn absence of Superintendent, ensure all schedules, policies, and guidelines are maintainedConducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to work overtimeAbility to work additional hours as necessary to meet business needs

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Six months to 2 years of related experienceMust have valid driver’s license and be willing to drive among construction sites in daytime and nighttimeStrong verbal and written communication skills Commitment to customer satisfaction Ability to read plans and other construction documentsRequire minimum supervision and ability to create a systematic approach in carrying out assignmentsAbility to converse with customers, all levels of management and personnelAbility to utilize DRH Construction applications on a smart phone, tablet, or laptopAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and emailAbility to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; climb ladders and scaffolding; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral visionRegular exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and risk of electrical shockThe noise level is generally loud
