Assistant Teacher, Drueding
OVERVIEW Drueding Center, located at 4th and Master Street in Philadelphia, partners with families experiencing homelessness to support them to build skills to heal from trauma, restore hope, and end the cycle of homelessness through a trauma informed and housing first approach. This work is accomplished through three interrelated departments – Residential Services, Community Services and Child Care. SUMMARY OF JOB The Assistant Teacher is responsible to assist the head teacher to teach, guide and supervise children 6 weeks to 5 years using a trauma informed approach and accordance with NAEYC, Keystone STARS and DHS guidelines. Arranges and maintains educational materials and equipment. Logs daily activities, keep records, prepares reports and communicates with parents on a daily basis. Required to maintain a Professional Development record and meet all training mandates. This position assumes all duties of classroom in the Head Teacher's absence. RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS 1. An associate degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in PA regulation 3270.31 (c). 2. A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential that is appropriate to the program option(s) used and to the age of the children served with two years experience working with children. 3. A School-age Credential with two years working with School-aged children (for school-aged staff) 4. Must be willing to embrace the Mission and Values of the Sisters and of Redeemer Health. 5.
