Assistant Teacher (University Child Development Center)

The Assistant Teacher will work in an early childhood classroom at the University Child Development Center with children ranging in age from six weeks through five years of age. The position involves a collaborative effort in supporting the functions of the classroom under the supervision of a Head Teacher and an Associate Teacher. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting daily activities and programming in the classroom, interaction with and supervising a group of children and maintaining daily communication with families. Some supervision of University students is required. Assistant Teachers are required to maintain 12 hours of professional development annually during their employment and maintain all DHS, NAEYC, Keystone STARS requirements. They are also required to attend all three professional development days at UCDC annually.

Supports head and associate teachers in a child development center. Prepares fine and gross motor activities for effective child development. Maintains a safe classroom conducive to learning and engagement. Guides student and temporary workers.

The Assistant Teacher supports the Head Teacher in the planning and implementation of a child development program for a class of children. Incumbent may act as supervisor when the Head Teacher and Associate Teacher are not in the classroom.
