DESCRIPTION
The Department of Teaching and Learning (TLRN) in the College for Education and Engaged Learning offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Non-Tenure Track (NTT) faculty member with expertise in inclusive education to support our nationally recognized teacher education program. We are especially interested in a colleague with theoretical knowledge in disability studies and practical experience in implementing inclusive education frameworks to meet the needs of students, families, and schools. The appointment includes teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate courses for preservice and in-service teachers with an emphasis on preparing candidates for certification as Teachers of Students with Disabilities (TSD), building strong partnerships with local schools to develop inclusive communities, and contributing to the vision and growth of the department. The position is a two-year, ten-month, non-tenure track appointment, with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTTP procedures. Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Implementation:
Deliver high-quality instruction across all teacher education programs, ensuring a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Develop course content and assessments.
Program Development and Quality Assurance:
Refine and update the curriculum for continuous improvement to align with evolving best practices in inclusive education.
Support the department in enhancing school-to-university partnerships.
Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure the program meets institutional standards for excellence.
Provide support with accreditation.
Student Support and Mentorship:
Provide individualized mentoring to support students' professional growth and mastery of inclusive practices.
Guide students in developing and tailoring field-based implementation plans for their unique school contexts.
Offer personalized insights and real-world expertise to enhance students' practical learning experiences.
Outreach and Growth:
Help the department to identify strategies to attract prospective students.
Build partnerships with school districts and educational organizations to promote the program and expand enrollment.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: Earned doctorate in Inclusive Education, Disability Studies in Education, Special Education, or a closely related field. Demonstrated expertise in disability studies theory, inclusive education pedagogy, special education law, and inclusive practices in educational settings. Experience and excellence with undergraduate and graduate-level teaching and advising. Demonstrated record of effective teaching to diverse student populations. Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practices in special and inclusive education. Successful experience working in K-12 schools and experience teaching at the higher education level. Commitment to mentoring and supporting students in their academic and professional trajectories. Experience in program development and partnership building.
PREFERRED: Theoretical expertise in disability studies in intersection with other critical theoretical frameworks in the context of education. Practical expertise and experience in special education, literacy education, inclusive pedagogies such as universal design for learning, and developing university-to-school partnerships. Experience using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning, including teaching online. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in and with socially, culturally, and economically diverse communities; have a commitment to education for social justice, democratic and inclusive practice, and critical thinking; and are interested in addressing issues of inclusive education in teaching, teacher education, and service.
