Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Psychology Department at Montclair State University is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, 10 months, non-tenure track, Assistant Teaching Professor position in School Psychology, to begin in September 2025. We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative colleague, who is preferably a New Jersey licensed (or license eligible) psychologist with school psychology certification to join our nationally accredited program. The position includes teaching, supervising and advising in the school psychology program (SPP) as well as assisting with administrative tasks required for accreditation such as data collection for annual reports. The School Psychology program is well-supported by an engaged faculty that take pride in its diverse student population, many of whom were first-generation college students, and in students’ satisfaction with the program. Position is a two-year, ten-month, non-tenure track appointment, with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTTP procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful applicants will have a doctoral degree in School Psychology or related field from a NASP or APA accredited program. Applicants should be a New Jersey licensed (or license eligible) psychologist with school psychology certification (e.g., New Jersey certification or NCSP credential) with a working knowledge of New Jersey Special Education Code. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working as a school psychologist in public school settings.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is Montclair State’s largest college with over 5,000 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. The Psychology Department - organized into the three broad categories of clinical, industrial/organizational (I/O), and psychological science – is a dynamic and welcoming workplace that serves a large and diverse constituency of students and is comprised of a vibrant group of 35 full-time faculty, including research faculty, teaching faculty, clinical faculty, and support staff. The Department is home to over 1,500 undergraduates, many of whom seek to continue at Montclair in our graduate programs. In addition to our School Psychology program which has been a leader in the area for over 20 years, the Psychology Department offers certificate programs, two other MAs, and PhDs in clinical and I/O psychology. Faculty in the Department are successful with extramural funding, providing significant support for students and robust activities within the department. In a period of considerable growth, the Department has hired many dynamic faculty, on both teaching and research tracks, who enjoy collaboration and are committed to student success, having chosen the Department for its record of supporting curricular innovation in response to disciplinary developments and the needs and interests of our students. The faculty members have diverse backgrounds and we experience success in helping new faculty acclimate to the department and university.
