Assistant Technology Manager

Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Technology Manager, the Assistant Technology Manager is responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of academic technology solutions to support Montclair State University’s educational mission. This role works closely with faculty and staffo support and optimize technological tools and data systems that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative functions.

**Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the project's duration, workload needs, and available funding.**

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support and maintain academic technology tools and platforms (e.g., EAB Navigate, 12twenty, Handshake).

Serve as the application administrator for EAB Navigate 360 and career services tools.

Provide technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students.

Create and update user support documentation.

Provide technology configuration support to major institutional initiatives, including merger with Bloomfield College integration and Workday Student SIS implementation.

Offer day-to-day technical support for university events and activities.

Manage and prioritize support tickets using the ServiceNow ticketing system, Smartsheet & email.

Track and document issues, resolutions, and follow-ups, ensuring efficient and timely resolution of tickets and communication of status updates to users.

Collaborate with university units to develop and meet strategic technical support goals.

Produce actionable reports on student data as needed using existing reporting tools (Cognos/Tableau).

Identify opportunities for technological optimization.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Management retaining the right to add or change job duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: 

Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in academic technology support, data analysis, or a related field

Personable, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Exceptional organizational, analytical and teamwork skills.

Demonstrated understanding of excellent customer service.

PREFERRED:

Master’s degree from an accredited university in a related field.

Experience in a higher educational setting.

Experience with student information systems (Banner / Workday) and student-facing applications.

Demonstrated experience offering impactful solutions for technology-centered issues.
