Assistant Transportation Mgr

What You Will Do
The Assistant Transportation Manager (ATM) is primarily responsible for leading the day-to-day operations and procedures in the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) Transportation Department through guidance and partnership with the Transportation Manager. This includes the primary responsibility of leading and developing a team of Transportation Supervisors and Visitor Center Associates who are responsible for the efficient inbound freight flow to the RDC and scheduling outbound deliveries to Lowe’s stores. The ATM ensures safety compliance, effectively communicates to internal and external partners and stakeholders, manages special projects, identifies service improvement opportunities, and develops value through cost savings initiatives. The ATM partners with transportation carriers to ensure on-time service, EDI compliance, route optimization and payment accuracy. This role provides cross-functional partnership with RDC Operations, Planning and Engineering teams, as well as transportation solutions and operational guidance for LTL Consolidation Centers and Flatbed Distribution Centers.

What We're Looking For
• Required to work a set schedule that meets the needs of the facility.
• May be asked to work mornings, afternoons, nights, and/or weekends based on the needs of the facility.
• Must work in a distribution/warehouse environment with the physical and environmental aspects typically associated with such environment.
• Minimally must be able to lift 25 pounds; ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

What You Need To Succeed
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or related field plus 1 year of experience in distribution center operations or related area OR 5 years of experience in distribution center/warehouse operations or related area
• Leadership experience with or without direct report responsibility
• Proven record for complying with safety requirements

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or related field
• Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
• Familiarity with Supply Chain Management principles and Transportation industry
• Experience managing budgets or contributing to the budget planning process
• Experience using troubleshooting processes to resolve problems
• Experience as a Supervisor in the Lowe’s Supply Chain Network
• Experience building a culture of safety among subordinates and peers
• Experience working with a transportation management system
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Access and/or Lowe’s DMS system 
• Bi-lingual skills, if applicable to the facility
