Assistant Underwriter - Construction

Accommodation is available upon request for candidates taking part in the selection process. **What will you do in this role?** + Support Underwriters to write such classes of business as outlined in by the underwriting authority to achieve targets set out in the business plan, in accordance with underwriting standards and controls. + Data entry and audit, ensuring accuracy of risks entered on the underwriting systems and spreadsheets. + Respond to and manage enquiries from Brokers in a timely and professional manner, with the guidance of Senior Underwriters. + Ensure understanding of risk appetite and decisions, selection and underwriting process and reviewing risks with that in mind, to ensure underwriting standards are maintained, documenting accordingly. + Build strong relationships with Brokers (both face-to-face and over the phone), with particular attention to service and responsiveness. + Attend client and Broker meetings with or without colleagues as appropriate + Effectively manage administrative functions with other members of the team to promote a corporate culture which pays due regard to the interests of Customers and treats them fairly at all times. + Achieve agreed training programmes as applicable, including Lloyds briefings, market seminars, CII, etc. + Monitoring regulatory, market and agency bulletins and circulars. + Maintenance of files and systems, when required. + Collate all relevant information required for any internal/external audits, meetings or reviews. + Update relevant document repository to include underwriting notes and complete rate monitoring for risks written.
