What You’ll Gain
Nautilus Insurance Group is seeking motivated candidates for our June 2025 EDGE program. We are looking for motivated candidates who are driven and have a foundation in insurance, risk management, or general business. Our extensive, six-month program offers classroom and practical instruction for candidates pursuing a career in property and casualty underwriting.
This unique opportunity is dedicated to teaching you about insurance and the art of underwriting.
Topics include:
General insurance industry knowledgeAll aspects of commercial lines of businessImportant job functions of an Assistant UnderwriterTraining includes formal classroom and on-the-job training, as well as specific project work, field trips, and mentorship with highly skilled members of our underwriting teams.
Through this training, you will learn to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills as you underwrite submissions and manage work items. You will gain a strong understanding of the core concepts of insurance and risk management and build valuable connections with industry leaders and fellow trainees.
While in the EDGE Program, participants attain the Associate in Insurance (AINS) designation from The Institutes. We recognize the importance of formal designations to build credibility early in your career and allocate weekly study time and reviews to prepare for the test.
Trainees who successfully complete the program are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as an Assistant Underwriter and transition out of training to actively handle work items with their underwriting team.
The Training Program (first six months)
Attends all EDGE classes and events. Completes homework assignments and projects. Receives a passing grade (80% or higher) on all exams and quizzes.Work assignments – manager under the supervision
The Assistant Underwriter Role (second six months)
Assesses and acts on new and renewal accounts to:Determine underwriting acceptabilityDetermine proper policy issuanceProvides administrative support by preparing and compiling reportsThe EDGE program takes place in our Scottsdale, Arizona, office and starts in June 2025. Scottsdale is a vibrant location rich in culture, food experiences, and beautiful scenic places to explore. Relocation assistance is available.
The base salary for this role is $31.80/Hour (annually $62,000).
Qualifications An associate or bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business, or related fieldsA strong academic record and passion for the insurance industryStrong working knowledge in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and OutlookBasic mathematical skillsStrong reasoning ability, including defining and solving problems, drawing conclusions, interpreting data, and making connections Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills
