Assistant Veterinary Clinical Supervisor (Surgery)

Port City is looking to hire an Assistant Clinical Supervisor for the surgery department. The Assistant Clinical Supervisor will work with the clinical supervisor and leadership team to ensure high quality, compassionate care is provided to both animals and their owners. The Assistant Supervisor will also help ensure employees are utilized to their fullest potential, feel valued and supported.

Additional Duties include but are not limited to:Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge base, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a team are requiredVenipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations and administration; digital radiography; patient prep and recovery; anesthesia monitoring for a variety of anesthetized proceduresAssisting doctors during patient appointments, providing outstanding client communication and educationPerforming sterile scrub and assist doctors throughout surgical procedures including abdominal explores, cruciate repairs, fracture repairs, thoracotomies and both laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgeries.Advocating for the patient, providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patientsKnowledge of the equipment and materials used and their availability and applicationsAbility to work on-calls, holidays/weekends, and OT as neededMaintain surgical instruments and equipmentRecruiting, Hiring, On-Boarding and MentoringScheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels to support department Demonstrate understanding of workflows of the department and the hospitalDevelop constructive and cooperative working relationships across the hospitalEncourage and build mutual trust, respect, communication, and cooperation among team members Advocate for the needs of our patients, clients and team membersServe as a “go to” for all departmentsAssist with coordinating training and continued technical development of team.Collaborate with staff at all levels and departments to streamline delivery of services without compromising care or hospitality.Ensure efficiency, quality and professionalism are top priorities of the teamSchedule: This is a Full-time position 36-40 hours with weekend requirements and will include up to 3 holidays.

About you:Graduate of an accredited AVMA program or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum 2 years’ experience in veterinary anesthesiaStrong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a mustAccuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIsProficiency in record keeping related to medical procedures including daily treatments administered, patient status, procedures completed, supplies used, and anesthetic recordsReview and understanding of all medical records pertinent to patient careComprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring is requiredAbility to work in a highly collaborative environment and a commitment to developing long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is requiredMaintain a positive outlook and ability to work well in stressful situationsThe ability to deliver exceptional client service is a priority.Benefits: Compensation is based on experience and skill level.Full-time benefits include health plan, dental, vision, disability and life insurances, flex-spending accounts, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program, paid time off, and uniforms, allowance.Competitive Vet Assistant and CVT CE allowance annuallyVetBloom access: RACE-approved continuing education, training, and curriculum libraryLicense application and renewal reimbursement for CVT’sFinancial support and onsite mentorship toward the pursuit of VTS
