Exhibits a spirit of true partnership that benefits all parties engaged in the project. + **Builds organizational capacity to meet future challenges** by identifying and removing barriers to innovation, and collaborating across divisional, institutional, and system boundaries. + **Is a champion and advocate for equity, inclusion, and anti-racism** by interrogating policies, procedures, and ideas to interrupt systemic racism, demonstrating inclusivity in work processes and teams, encouraging, and promoting the diversification of staff to mirror the diversity of our students, and in actively seeking out and inviting alternative viewpoints in planning, discussions and decision making. **Responsibilities:** The Assistant VP of Human Resources serves as the Campus Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and is the senior administrative official responsible for providing leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the human resources operation of the University. The CHRO will lead and coach the team responsible for the full range of human resources functions including, but not limited to, recruitment and selection (classified and unclassified positions), workforce planning and design, employee and labor relations, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, classification as delegated, staffing, training and development, succession planning, workers’ compensation/safety, and payroll. The CHRO assists in processing and resolving all employment disputes, internal and external. The Director serves as a representative of the university to the System Office, Minnesota Management & Budget, the Attorney General’s Office and other external entities (e.g. EEOC, MDHR) on matters related to employment. The CHRO ensures that the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and affirmative action and equal employment opportunity will be applied to all university human resources practices, including developing policies and practices that welcome all potential students and employees. The CHRO facilitates an inclusive and collaborative culture with a focus on client service, accountability for results, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The CHRO leads efforts to position the University as a collaborative and welcoming place to work that supports, engages, values, and develops employees. The CHRO serves as the university Title IX deputy for employees. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field. + Seven or more years of successful and progressively responsible professional experience in human resource management in a medium to large organization. + Demonstrated high level of skills in leadership, management, supervisory, organizational, and human relations. + Demonstrated competence in interpreting and complying with federal and state legislation, and state, system, and university policies. + Demonstrated genuine commitment to inclusiveness and shared governance in leadership and decision-making. + Knowledge of principles of continuous improvement, customer service, and quality management. + Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds and commitment to increasing and maintaining diversity in staffing and operations to reflect the makeup of the university’s student population. + Demonstrated ability to identify and address issues and concerns in a diplomatic, sensitive, and confidential manner. + Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. + High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency and demonstrated ability to use technology to develop business process efficiencies. **Preferred Qualification** + Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field. + Professional HR certification (SPHR/SHRM-SCP) + Experience in public sector human resource management + Solid employee relations/labor relations experience, including negotiating and managing collective bargaining agreements and maintaining sound business relationships with union representatives + Demonstrated ability to foster participation of others and to work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and other constituents of the university + Experience in strategic planning, project management, and change management ​ **Other Requirements** **Notice** : In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check. **About** **The University:** _Metro State University empowers learners to transform their lives and communities through relevant, student-centered education in an inclusive, anti-racist, and supportive learning environment._ Metro State University provides an excellent, inclusive, and engaging education to eliminate opportunity gaps and empower our students to lead our communities to a prosperous and equitable future.
