Position Description:The Job Coach works directly with students with special needs at various job sites and provides on the job training and feedback; also works closely with employers at various community/job sites. May require lifting and/or restraints. RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assist in the implementation of the Windham Public Schools Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations and directives
+ Follow Windham Public school policy to ensure student safety
+ Follow teacher's oral or written directions with accuracy
+ Assist the teacher with documentation of student progress
+ Encourage students to interact appropriately with peers
+ Assist students during recess, breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, on school buses and field trips
+ Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
+ Experience working with young children
+ Ability to implement behavioral goals
+ Ability to understand child development
+ Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
+ Effective, active listening skills
+ Ability to work effectively with others
+ Organizational and problem solving skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School diploma or equivalency
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ Successful experience in the position
+ Two (2) years of experience working with children or young adults in a school setting, preferred
+ Experience working with students with special needs
+ Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred, not required
