The Immunotoxicology group within Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety’s Pathobiology Organization is seeking an experienced bench Scientist that works exceptionally well in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Principal Responsibilities:
+ Execute fit-for-purpose functional cellular assays to support the understanding of target biology, target expression, candidate safety liability, pharmacodynamic biomarker development, bioactivity and/or immune mechanistic issue resolution.
+ Analyze samples for specific analytes using multiplex technologies (e.g., cytokines, chemokines).
+ Maintain primary and immortalized cells in culture.
+ Isolate peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from human, dog, normal human primate, rat, and mini pig whole blood.
+ Isolate specific cells from PBMCs using negative selection columns.
+ Expand technological expertise with a growth mindset.
+ Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), including compliant use of an electronic notebook system.
+ Interpret and communicate data with an appropriate level of independence in report writing and PowerPoint presentations,
+ Review data of colleagues with detailed rigor for data integrity compliance.
+ Adhere to company policies (i.e., Environmental Health and Safety) that ensure a safe laboratory workplace.
Qualifications:
+ A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a Biology, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline is required.
+ A minimum of 3 years of laboratory lab experience is required.
+ Laboratory experience in immunology, cancer immunobiology, molecular biology and/or cell biology is required.
+ Aseptic cell culture maintenance is required.
+ Experience working with high-end technologies (e.g., Meso Scale Discovery (MSD), Luminex) is required.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.
+ Experience working for a pharmaceutical company or Contract Research Organization (CRO) is preferred.
+ Experience in cellular functional endpoint assessments (e.g., cell surface phenotypic changes, proliferation, activation, phagocytosis, target cell killing, and/or production of soluble factors) is preferred.
+ Proficiency with molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, ELISA) is preferred.
+ Expertise in working with a variety of in vitro immune and/or hematopoietic cellular systems, including mixed cell culture systems and/or working with primary cells is preferred.
+ Proficiency with flow cytometry is preferred.
+ Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Must have strong skills related to time management, attention to detail and documentation.
+ Must have a passion for teamwork and be comfortable working in a highly interactive, inter-disciplinary and vibrant environment.
+ The ability to work with supervisory oversight in experimental execution, optimization, data analysis and interpretation is required.
+ The ability to multitask laboratory responsibilities with computer-based analyses is required.
The anticipated base pay range for this position in all other U.S. locations is $74,000 to $119,600.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
