About the position:

ING’s Acquisition Finance Sponsor Coverage group in the Americas is seeking an Associate. This position is an opportunity to execute sponsor-backed leveraged lending transactions, typically leveraged buyouts, refinancings, and dividend recapitalizations. You will work closely with senior bankers and gain credit experience across a variety of industries and deals, including clubbed and broadly syndicated loans. You will perform a range of activities which include idea generation, pitching, structuring, credit analysis, modeling, authoring credit memos, legal documentation review, and managing closing processes for new transactions. The position requires a self-starter who can take the initiative to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.

About the department:

Acquisition Finance is a global platform within ING’s Capital Markets & Advisory (CM&A) platform that provides advice and financing to leveraged issuers backed by a range of top-tier private equity sponsors. The team works to support private equity sponsors across ING’s global footprint and is considered experts within the leveraged lending field and a pillar of ING’s capital velocity strategy.

Responsibilities:

Engage in all aspects of originating leveraged finance transactions including underwriting, arranging and lendingAuthor screening memos and credit approval packages reflecting due diligence, financial analysis, and credit documentation reviewComplete LBO models, comparable company / precedent transaction analyses, rating assessments and return analysisContribute to the team’s idea generation pipeline and deal sourcing efforts, including screening the portfolio for potential transactions and pursuing possible new deals from market intelligenceAssemble client marketing materials and internal presentations as neededCollaborate with a variety of other teams, ranging from CM&A partners (e.g. Capital Markets, M&A) and sector teams to specific departments (e.g., Risk, Legal) as well as Acquisition Finance colleagues across the globeOversee and coordinate with Analyst(s) on deal teams

Qualifications and competencies:

A Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics or related quantitative field.  MBA is a plus2-4 years of relevant experienceLeveraged finance background not required but a plusStrong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial statementsProficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Progress towards a CFA is a plusCredit training is a positiveStrong written and verbal communication skillsYou are a driven individual with ability to work under limited direct supervisionYou are a standout colleague and an exceptional teammateYou are highly detail oriented and able to handle several projects at a time in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range: $140,00 - $170,000
