**What You'll Be Doing**
The Advisory team within the Wealth Solutions Group (WSG) is a front-office team of former private-practice lawyers from leading Canadian business law firms that manages, coordinates and supports the development, execution, and oversight of cutting edge investment products (including structured notes, market linked GICs and depositary receipts) tailored to the needs of high net-worth retail and institutional clients.
As an Associate in the Advisory team, you will serve as a primary trading floor liaison, providing expertise in trade execution, product development, transaction control and legal risk management to ensure compliance and alignment with CIBC's strategic objectives.
You’re a results-driven lawyer with 1-3 years’ experience in a transactional practice, who possesses a keen interest in corporate, securities or derivatives law, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

**How You’ll Succeed**
+ **Transaction Liaison** - Contribute as a primary trading floor liaison with internal and external transaction control and approval functions.
+ **Product Development** - Provide expertise and oversight in the development of new and novel investment products across a number of underlying markets.
+ **Product Documentation** - Draft disclosure for customized structured notes, OTC derivatives, FX and rates products, equity financing and hedging solutions, and depositary receipts.
+ **Ensure Compliance** - Ensure transactions and products are structured to achieve legal, regulatory, tax, and operational objectives for CIBC and its clients.
+ **Manage Risk** - Participate in trading floor quality control and legal & reputational risk management functions, ensuring transactions are aligned with CIBC reputational & legal risk policies.
+ **Collaborate with Internal Partners** - Work closely with a number of internal partners, including Structuring, Sales, Trading, Legal, Treasury, and Taxation Division.
+ **Adhere to Corporate Governance Practices** - Work effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (e.g., Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance) to ensure all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputation issues and shareholder objectives are covered, and to promote the firm’s vision, mission, and values.
**Who You Are**
+ **You are a Lawyer with 1 to 3 years’** working with a large transaction-oriented Canadian law firm, with an emphasis on securities, corporate finance and/or derivatives law.
+ **You are familiar with the brokerage industry, wealth management, structured products, derivatives and financial markets**
