What You’ll Be Doing
The Enterprise Strategy and Corporate Development groups (S&CD) play a key role in maximizing the value of CIBC’s portfolio of businesses through the identification, assessment and execution of strategic initiatives and transactions (e.g., organic growth initiatives, acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships and joint ventures). S&CD works in collaboration with the bank’s business units and functional groups in order to identify opportunities for growth and to increase the value of CIBC’s businesses. As a member of the team, you will be focused on supporting the development and implementation of business strategies and initiatives and play an important role with the execution of transactions to enable CIBC to deliver on its overall strategic priorities and goals. You will be expected to provide a broad range of analytical, financial modelling, research, presentation preparation and project management support. The Corporate Development team also manages a portfolio of direct equity and fund investments.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed
Business Strategy – Support members of the S&CD team in the development of corporate and business strategies with supporting initiatives and plans to enable CIBC to deliver on its mandate, goals and objectives. Prepare presentations for internal clients that include CIBC’s Executive Committee and its Board of Directors.
Financial Analysis - Prepare financial models, in-depth valuation, and other financial analysis to assess the feasibility of potential strategic opportunities and transactions, which may include discounted cash flow, comparable company and precedent transaction analysis.
Research and Due Diligence – Perform research to evaluate potential opportunities and ensure S&CD has robust competitive intelligence and strong awareness of trends, industry developments, client needs and regulatory changes. Assist with due diligence and project management on transactions and strategic initiatives.
