The Equity Capital Markets (ECM) department is searching for an experienced Associate in our New York, NY office.
Summary
The Associate position will be a key role in our firm and serve critical functions across the “full cycle” of equity transactions coordinating origination, execution and product management across the entire organization. The individual will work closely with senior relationship managers within each of the firm's industries and regions of focus. As a full-service equity platform, capabilities should expand to all equity products including IPOs, follow-ons, preferreds, ATMs, share repurchases and convertibles / equity-linked. Importantly, the candidate will be highly enthusiastic about leveraging prior experience to contribute to the development of the firm’s equity franchise.
In this position, the Associate will play a leadership role on a platform that is growing, dynamic and maintains a strong culture of work-life balance. The candidate should have strong functional skills in the major areas of investment banking and will demonstrate the ability to become a senior officer who can generate and execute his/her own transactions.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include preparing and delivering bespoke solutions to clients, deal execution, maintaining and building new client relations from a product expertise perspective and expanding the overall equity franchise. As conditions dictate, the individual would be expected to develop and/or further expand industry specialization. As a critical member of the team, the Associate will drive both coverage and execution initiatives, product technology development and training for junior associates. Accordingly, the individual would be expected to:
Collaborate with relationship managers to identify ECM opportunities; develop pitch concepts and ideas
Provide quality idea generating proposals to clients and prospects and perform respective follow-up
Prepare presentation material for clients across all industries on topics including common share issuance (all execution formats), equity-linked alternatives, IPOs, carve-outs and share repurchase
Model IPO valuations, comparable analyses, accretion, dilution, pro-forma capitalization tables
Price and model equity-linked securities, cost of capital analyses, call-spread overlays, and ASRs
Assist with the syndicate function, including prospectus drafting, due diligence, investor targeting and feedback, bookbuilding, pricing and allocation
Develop and refine internal product manuals and procedures
Supervise and train junior professionals
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 2 years of experience in Equity Capital Markets or Investment Banking
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in Equity Capital Markets or Investment Banking
FINRA Licenses - Series 63, Series 79, SIE
Demonstrated transaction experience and strong client management skills
Experience as a deal team member and interacting with senior personnel internally and externally
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for excellence
Highly proficient in client management including creating and presenting client solutions
Strong financial modeling and valuation skills for all equity / equity-linked products
Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative environment

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York, NY: $150,000 - $200,000 for Associate, Debt and Equity Capital Markets
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
