The anticipated salary range for this role is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role DescriptionThis position provides support to senior management and other business stakeholders for the U.S FP&A (“Financial Planning and Analysis”) Team in Strategic Planning Department, Americas Division (“SPDAD)”. U.S. FP&A reports directly to the U.S. Chief Financial Officer (“U.S. CFO”). This function requires strong influencing and negotiation skills and provides the opportunity to demonstrate thought leadership to senior management.
Scope of responsibility includes but is not limited to: driving execution and management of key initiatives inclusive of financial and management reporting, flash, actuals and budgeting, enhancing frameworks for financial performance metrics such as RWA, ROE, NIM and other resource management measures, and producing standard management reports and presentations, including ad-hoc analysis for U.S. CFO and other senior stakeholders. This role will contribute to major areas of the FP&A Team, which includes financial resource optimization, management and regulatory reporting, and coordination with various stakeholders of the organization from Head Office to our bank’s back, middle and front office.
Role Objectives Develop and maintain monthly/quarterly planning and review processes, contributing to forecasting and budgeting activities in resource optimization and other key financial metrics (RWA, ROE, NIM, etc.) Assist with key strategic initiatives by performing analysis and review of organization financial performance by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data Contribute to the preparation of financial and management reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders Collaborate cross-functionally to develop forecasting processes to enable entity, business, and regional views of both local and global financial resource consumption and constraints Liaising with key business contacts to gather, analyze and provide overall narrative of key business drivers and performance metrics to senior management Innovate and improve existing BAU processes around management reporting; and build new processes where none exist Qualifications and Skills 3+ years of full-time working experience in financial industry in Finance, Consulting, Technology, or FP&A departments Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and plan/prioritize appropriately Ability to lead and drive initiatives through creative thinking and pragmatism Strong organizational, oral, and written communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of support and business partners Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills Working knowledge of financial services industry (finance, banking, accounting, and business management, etc.) Drive process efficiencies through automation and delivery of data pipelines to enable self-service reporting and analytics Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, along with ability to quickly learn new programs or applications Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields.
