Job Summary
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Plant Manager, the maintenance associate/production associate is responsible for completing maintenance assignments to build, repair and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible; while keeping associated costs to a minimum and meet plant’s goals. In the production associate is responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which blends/mixes/packages/transports the liquid or dry chemicals that comprise our customer products. This role will split their time 50/50 in maintenance and production.
Essential Functions
Completes electrical projects; design and installs. Troubleshoot electrical problems and correct as required. Must be capable of reading electrical schematics. Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, repairs or replaces defective parts. Sets up and operates shop machinery such as drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder. etc. Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment. Installs new or repairs/modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed. Operates the cooling water system. Researches supplies, parts and machines needed to complete work orders. Orders part on the company computer system. Assists in organizing and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts. Performs and documents work orders and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned. Maintains and keeps track of workload and assignments. Completes and maintains all required paperwork, records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings etc. Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company. Follows applicable Safety, Health and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing any procedure. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards. Sets up and starts all machines, checking all controls for adherence to mixing or packaging procedures. Weighs ingredients to meet recipe specification and inserts into machinery Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues Operates machinery to mix, discharge or handle materials according to operating procedure. Examines materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards May take samples of materials to lab for evaluations and instructions Other duties as assigned.Competencies

Requires standing, sitting, walking, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and climbing of steps and ladders. Must be able use hands to handle and feel objects, or manipulate controls. Talk, see and hear. Typically work is in a plant environment where the noise level is high. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds. The environment is typically dusty and includes many toxic or caustic chemicals. Work environment includes many pieces of hazardous moving equipment Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area (i.e. safety glasses and shoes, ear plugs, respirator, face shield, chemical suit, etc.). Work could be inside or outside and the typical noise level is loud. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Frequently exposed to vibration. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
