Associate, Risk Management
**Role Overview** We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Risk Management team as an Associate. The successful candidate will work closely with the VP of Risk Management and other members of the Risk Management team on various deliverables, including credit risk portfolio analysis, data preparation/organization, data analysis, risk reporting and presentations, along with ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned / required by the organization. **Key Responsibilities** + Collaborate with the Risk Management team on strategic initiatives and projects to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the organization. + Conduct analysis of credit risk portfolios, including the assessment of credit quality, concentration risk, and portfolio performance. + Assist in the preparation, organization, cleaning, and analysis of data to support risk management activities, including stress testing, scenario analysis, and regulatory reporting. + Respond to ad-hoc requests for risk-related reporting tasks, including the preparation of presentations and reports for senior management and regulatory authorities. + Assist in projects and initiatives as assigned to the Risk Management team from Head Office and/or the American Division + Support the development and enhancement of risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices. + Stay informed about industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments to contribute to the continuous improvement of the risk management function. **Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, PRM, CFA) is preferred. + 3+ years of experience in risk management (e.g. enterprise, market, liquidity), credit risk analysis, or a related field within the financial services industry. + Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively. + Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau) and experience with risk management systems (e.g., Moody's RiskFrontier, SAS Risk Dimensions) is an asset. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional, clear and precise reports and presentations to the Board and senior management. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage tight timelines and multi-task. + Knowledge of banking regulations, regulatory guidelines and risk management practices, particularly with relations to the Canadian financial services industry is desirable. **About SMBC** SMBC Group is a top-tier global financial group.
