Sustainable & Transition Solutions (STS) is BlackRock's central sustainability function that leads our firmwide sustainability and transition strategy, drives cross-functional change, supports client & external engagements, powers product ideation, and embeds sustainability expertise across the firm. It is a 35+ strong global team of smart, results-oriented people who are addressing some of the world’s most complex financial and sustainability challenges.
Our team is the center of expertise for all things sustainable and transition for BlackRock. We work closely with our partners in the Global Product Solutions (GPS) team, within which STS sits, as well as with the Sustainable Investment Research & Analytics team within the BlackRock Investment Institute, Aladdin Sustainability, Global Client Business, Corporate Affairs, and investors and product strategists across the firm to deliver solutions for our clients.
Reporting to the Singapore-based Head of Sustainable & Transition Solutions for Asia Ex-Japan, this role will help to drive BlackRock’s sustainable and transition investing efforts across the Asia Ex-Japan region. The role’s core responsibility is to be a convener of, and champion for, our commercial strategy and ecosystem engagement activities, with a primary focus on the North Asia markets (i.e. Greater China and South Korea).
Key Responsibilities:
Support the development of and help drive the client commercialisation strategy in sustainability & transition for AxJ, collaborating with sales teams to engage and partner with APAC asset owners and respond to inbound requests – with a particular focus on those based in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea.
Implement and support external events and education/commercialisation efforts in partnership with APAC Marketing, e.g., client conferences/ roundtables, online learning modules, newsletters, speaking engagements and media interactions.
Partner with the Corporate Affairs team to engage with the evolving regulatory & policy environment, e.g., support responses to surveys/ consultations.
Support the production of content to synthesize BlackRock’s thought leadership on sustainable investing for regional clients and industry, e.g., trends, developments, insights and investment case studies.
Contribute subject matter expertise to support BlackRock’s representation at select commercially-relevant industry forums, and strategic market development efforts.
Champion internal capacity-building efforts across sales teams and other key internal partners, to increase knowledge of sustainability and inform product development strategy.
Collaborate with the other APAC and global STS and research pillars on cross-functional and cross-regional projects where appropriate, such as research content, product innovation and policy engagement.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
3-5 years of relevant experience in financial services and/or sustainability.
Subject matter expertise in sustainability, particularly climate change, is highly preferred. This does not necessarily need to be direct investment management experience, however the individual must demonstrate strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the connection between sustainability and investment outcomes.
Knowledge of the North Asia investment management and regulatory landscape is helpful.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and the aptitude for thinking strategically and commercially to help proactively drive new business.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex investment and sustainability topics into easy-to-understand memos, speeches and presentations.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage and resolve conflicting viewpoints, and build positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
Team player, with demonstrated ability to efficiently manage and deliver multi-dimensional projects through collaboration with cross-disciplinary global teams.
Business-level spoken and written Mandarin skills are essential for this role, as it involves working with Chinese-speaking clients.
The role requires business travel within North Asia.
