Fidelity Investments Life Insurance (FILI) is looking for an Associate Actuary or Director to help drive our future state Enterprise Risk Management Program. The Role
In this role, you are an individual contributor who reports to the life insurer’s Head of Risk and will support insurance risk management for all products. You use FIS Prophet actuarial software, Microsoft Excel and potentially other platforms and technologies to model, analyze and report insurance and investment risks which provide the basis for (i) evaluating the severity and likelihood of various financial outcomes and (ii) long range capital planning. You also support annual prospective solvency analysis and capital sufficiency determination. You will:
Work with the Head of Risk to enhance, document and communicate FILI and EFILI’s enterprise risk management program
Model, analyze and communicate the risks of the company including (i) insurance risks, (ii) investment and liquidity risks and (iii) reinsurance counterparty credit risks of the company.
Evaluate the effectiveness of existing risk mitigation efforts.
Develop and adopt new practices in response to new products/risks/processes.
Promote and maintain governance and documentation as per corporate and actuarial standards.
Build and maintain risk reports which align with corporate risk and industry reporting standards
Communicate results both in writing and in person to senior stakeholders.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
5+ years of proven insurance experience or other comparable risk experience
Fellow in the Society of Actuaries. Alternatively, candidates who are Associates in the Society of Actuaries and/or those who bring a solid annuity/insurance background and demonstrated organizational skills will also be considered.
The ability to juggle priorities, to multi-task and to keep stakeholders updated on progress and status of various responsibilities.
Strong analytical skills and the technical skills to manipulate large relational data tables and extract pertinent data for analysis.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to help various stakeholders understand risks associated with insurance products and explain sophisticated topics to non-technical people at all organizational levels.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships as you work collaboratively within and across teams.
The Team
The FILI Reinsurance and Risk Management Team is a relatively small but nimble group of actuaries and analysts tasked with risk management responsibilities of the Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company (FILI) and its NY subsidiary, Empire Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company (EFILI). FILI and EFILI, together, provide financial products that help Fidelity’s investors achieve lifetime financial goals. Having annuity and life insurance solutions as options is a strategic advantage for Fidelity’s Brokerage and Wealth Management business units.
