**Description**
The Department of Neurology, Division of Child Neurology, at the University of Rochester Medical Center has an opening for a full-time genetic counselor. Our clinical programs include but are not limited to Neurogenetics clinic, Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) clinic, Complex Epilepsy clinic, and Neurofibromatosis (NF) clinic. The genetic counselor may also provide genetic counseling support for other clinics within Pediatric Neurology and Neurology. There are excellent opportunities for career development within the Pediatric Neurology Division including research, teaching, and support for educational conferences.
Successful candidates are expected to share the clinical responsibilities of the teaching of Masters of Science in Genetic Counseling students, medical students, and residents as expected in the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
**Qualifications**
Candidates should have a Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) Accredited Program, and should have passed the ABGC certification exam, or plan to take this exam within the next year. Applicants should have excellent communication skills in regards to both patients and colleagues, enjoy working with children of all ages, and be capable of utilizing electronic medical record systems.
