Position Information Posting Number 20113041 Position Title Associate Athletic Trainer FTE 1.0 Position Type Staff Department Athletic Trainer Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role: Provide medical services to Lamar University student athletes participating in moderate/high risk sports under the direction of the Director of Sports Medicine and team physicians. Must have the ability to make independent decisions in the following areas: injury assessment, injury referrals, injury care management, return to play, emergency care, communication, and administration. This position requires the ability to work with the athletic training staff, strength and conditioning staff, sport coaches, athletic administration, team physicians, and various departments across campus. This position will conduct ongoing evaluation of injury trends and outcomes to inform pragmatic improvements and adjustments to treatment plans. The associate athletic trainer will assist with additional administrative duties such as departmental inventory, supply ordering and/or drug testing. This position may require you to work non-traditional hours, including early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Some travel required. This job is not suitable for remote work. What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities: + Assist team Physician and Director of Sports Medicine in injury recognition, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of the student-athlete. Accurately maintain all records and reports (physical examinations, injury records, physician notes, treatment & rehabilitation notes, insurance claims, etc.). + Supervise graduate assistant athletic trainers and serve as clinical preceptor for graduate/undergraduate level athletic training students. + Assist in policy & procedure updates in accordance with NCAA guidelines and recommendations. + Assist in departmental inventory and supply ordering. + Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Sports Medicine. Physical Requirements: + Bend, lift, carry items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Manual dexterity of hands/fingers to provide care and utilize medical equipment. Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, reading signs, and traffic signals. Job Conditions: + Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment. + May work in all weather conditions.
