Their role is to ensure category goals align with the organization’s short and long-term vision. This role actively engages and supports the Supplier Relationship Management program, the Sourcing Management program, and other Supply Chain initiatives. The Associate Category Manager will report to the Procurement Category Manager.

What You'll Do Establish and/or maintain positive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders, including but not limited to Engineers, Project Managers and Plant Managers Understand industry trends and apply to internal CMC and procurement strategies Establish and manage a set of suppliers and related agreements that allow business department and procurement objectives and goals to be met for procured goods and services Monitors key functional metrics that reduce overall costs, as needed. Benchmarking, KPI’s, and various other forms of data analytics will be used and are needed in order to meet or exceed departmental cost benefit goals, objectives, and spend measurements Supports Procurement team in sourcing opportunities including national and regional RFx process and contract negotiations resulting in cost benefit opportunities for goods and services Aligns with Procurement peers and leadership in their areas of responsibility in order to have a broader range or sense of category knowledge throughout the department to identify opportunities within assigned spend responsibility Provides guidance and mentors junior Procurement Category Specialists Document/track benefits associated with category sourcing and contracting What You'll Need Minimum 3 years procurement experience Demonstrates strong knowledge of negotiations and execution of strategic sourcing steps Advanced knowledge of purchasing and Source to Pay process Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships (internal and external) Strong data analytical skills with strong attention to detail Shows strong initiative and commitment to achieving team results Offers new ideas and creative suggestions for continuous improvement Strong Communication and Presentation Skills required (verbal, written, listening) Identifies and evaluates issues; makes accurate and timely decisions with minimal oversight or direction Participation in special projects, as needed Accountability /takes responsibility for deliverables Advanced Technology Skills (Microsoft Office, PowerBI, E-Procurement, SAP) Must be a promoter of company and departmental goals Willing to travel an average of 25% of time Your Education Bachelor's degree required, in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Business Certification in procurement or supply chain strongly preferred (e.g. ISM CPSM or APICS CPIM/CSCP)We are CMC, a Fortune 500 company at the leading edge of our industry.
