Responsible for assisting in the coordination, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic and educational programs aimed at supporting pediatric patients and their families during hospitalization. Provides support to mitigate the negative psychological impact of hospitalization and illness. This includes working with pediatric patients of all ages to facilitate their socialization and positive adjustment to the hospital environment by promoting age-appropriate activities to ensure continued growth and development; preparing them for necessary medical interventions through play and/or discussion; encouraging the use of coping skills during stressful medical encounters; and fostering the patient's self-expression, autonomy, sense of mastery, and positive self-esteem.
