Associate Claim Coordinator, Death Claims

This role will serve as the primary point of contact for beneficiary claims with responsibility for assisting beneficiaries over the phone and providing education and assistance to the beneficiaries with a high degree of emphasis around empathy.
The Associate Claim Coordinator will be collecting a “Claims Decision” over the phone, including gathering the necessary information to file the claim, as well as providing an overview of the claims process.
As the entry point in the Claim Coordination job family, incumbents should possess a passion for serving clients and their families during this difficult life moment.
The Associate Claim Coordinator’s will be part of a larger team and will partner with the claims team on guiding our beneficiaries through the claims filing experience.
Those who excel in the role will have an opportunity to deepen the level of support and interaction by progressing into the role of “Claim Coordinator.”
Job Duties and Responsibilities
+ Serves as the contact person for Beneficiary claims.
+ Utilize critical thinking skills to provide assistance and support in the claims filing process.
+ Utilizes critical thinking skills to find beneficiaries and work with them to efficiently resolve open claims, with care & empathy, reflexing to the needs of the caller.
+ Uses active listening skills to communicate clearly concisely and in a positive manner to offer timely solutions over the phone.
+ Detail-oriented and agile in learning multiple procedures and computer applications.
+ Supports our Financial Professionals in the claims process by keeping them informed and looking for opportunities to partner and serve beneficiaries.
Required Job Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-Secondary education preferred.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills with a high level of professionalism.
+ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the insurance or financial services industry. Knowledge of the health care or long-term care industry preferred.
+ Ability to quickly learn complex program and product knowledge, work on a PC, accessing and navigating multiple software applications in a Windows environment while talking to the customer on the phone via a headset at the same time.
+ Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of internal and external parties

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $19.41 - $26.26 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
