Position Summary:
The Associate Chief Nursing Officer - SRMC Campus (ACNO will assist the Chief Nursing Officer with ongoing development, direction, and supervision of inpatient, emergency, surgical, behavioral health and clinical programs and services within SRMC. The (ACNO) will function as the Nurse Executive primarily responsible for coordination of patient access, throughput and flow. Also jointly responsible with the CNO for ensuring that patient services are in compliance with nursing care standards as well as state and federal regulations. Assist in developing and revising nursing policies and procedures, and assist the CNO with nurse recruitment, retention, training and quality assurance. Promote high quality nursing care with optimal efficiency in the administration of fiscal affairs and other activities concerning nursing throughout the clinical enterprise. Report to the CNO. Ensure adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. No patient care assignment.

Detailed responsibilities:
* POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain established departmental and hospital policies and procedures, guidelines, objectives, and quality assurance programs
* PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES - Review and approve policies and procedures that relate to the qualifications and employment of nursing and any licensed clinical staff members, review and approve all clinical policies, procedures and clinical guidelines
* COMPLIANCE - Establish and maintain qualifications of nursing and all clinical staff including competency based performance expectations and compliance with clinical care
* BUDGET - Oversees and assists in the preparation of budget and allocation of funds for all clinical services in collaboration with clinical and medical staff within the organization
* IMPROVEMENT - Represents all clinical programs needs regarding improvements of hospital facilities including construction, renovation and purchase of capital equipment
* STRATEGIC PLANNING - Contributes to the organizations strategic plans and goals as a member of the Executive Team
* STRATEGIC INITIATIVES - Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Staff to ensure implementation of strategic initiatives
* STRATEGIC INITIATIVES - Working with the CEO, Medical Staff Services to develop centers of excellence, clinical programming and standards for the hospital and ensure implementation of strategic initiatives
* LEADERSHIP - Provide overall leadership as measured against standards of all applicable regulatory agencies and those established by the clinical boards for the clinical programs within the hospital
* QUALITY - Continuously ensures the quality and appropriateness of all clinical care by overseeing the standards and development, implementation and tracking of outcome metrics including but not limited to CMS core measures, National Patient Safety goals, The Joint Commission standards and Department of Health regulations
* PATIENT CARE - Serves as a resource and consultant for patient care issues to hospital administration
* NURSING EDUCATION - Oversees clinical education and develops operational plans for clinical education for staff and students
* COMMUNITY OUTREACH - Collaborates with all community educational institutions to promote good public relations and assist with the education of all clinical students by representing the hospital and patient care programs through community outreach
* LEADERSHIP - Provide overall leadership in the development and implementation of shared governance model; assist with the development and implementation of a strategic plan and ongoing monitoring to achieve Pathways of Excellence or Magnet accreditation
* LIAISON - Serves as a liaison and provides consultation for the electronic medical record, staffing resource center, Ambulatory clinics, quality programs and any other areas affecting the delivery of patient care
* MENTOR – Coaches, mentors, develops and supports leaders and others by providing guidance, advice, encouragement and constructive feedback; assist leaders with creating a strategic roadmap for professional development; develop individuals to achieve high performance standards, desired outcomes, and goals that align with the strategic direction of UNMH
