The ideal candidate will have extensive marketing writing experience and a deep understanding of brand voice and messaging, as well as the ability to write for different audiences and channels. Work samples provided should include clear, concise, persuasive marketing copy and attention-grabbing headlines. The Associate Copy Director will also actively contribute to and sometimes lead creative discussions and brainstorming sessions for various marketing and communications initiatives, including promotional campaigns, event planning, news articles, and how to generally market the University to enhance enrollment and current student communications. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: + Provide complete oversight, management and direction of all copy material produced for and by Mercy University. + Establish strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information. + Achieve department objectives by managing staff and freelance writers through proper recruitment, evaluation, training and the use of technology. + Oversee the work of the copywriting team, both in-house and freelance, to ensure that all deliverables meet high standards of quality and creativity. + Develop and implement a copy strategy that aligns with the company's overall marketing and communication goals. + Write and edit copy for a variety of marketing and communications materials, including website copy, advertising, brochures, social media, news articles and email campaigns. + Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing and effective materials. + Research content to include in marketing communications, including accreditations, accolades, certifications and specifics to make sure all copy is factual and accurate. + Collaborate with other campaign managers and key constituents within the University to keep campaigns updated, relevant and fresh. + Actively contribute to or lead brainstorming sessions. + Assist with creating social media content as per the editorial calendar, including helping with management of communities across platforms. + Coordinate with and interview students, faculty, etc to document their stories for use in marketing communications, or for editorial purposes. + Stay up-to-date on the latest copywriting trends and best practices. + Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Skills & Experience: + 5+ years of experience in a copywriting or other relevant marketing/communications role + Strong understanding of brand voice and messaging + Diverse writing experience across different formats, including both long and short format content + Excellent editorial and proofreading skills + Exceptional communication, project management and organizational skills + Ability to manage and lead a team, working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment + Demonstrate problem solving skills, and actively participate in brainstorming sessions + Capable of presenting creative concepts and ideas to the marketing team and other audience + Experience with SEO and content marketing best practices is a plus. Education Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Marketing or related field + Writing portfolio required Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.
