Responsibilities:
The Associate Counsel, Regulatory Compliance and Privacy will support the Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) legal team on data privacy initiatives and compliance tracking across the DTC group’s portfolio of digital properties, including Peacock, Sky NOW/WOW, SkyShowtime, and ShowMax as well as NBCUniversal’s broadcast and cable network websites and apps. This role will report to the Vice President, Regulatory Compliance and Privacy.
Responsibilities include:
Support the Regulatory Compliance & Privacy legal team in managing compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards related to the DTC digital portfolio, including existing properties in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Africa.Assist with comprehensive privacy assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk related to measurement and analytics requests; develop/implement risk mitigation and corrective action plans for areas of heightened risk or problematic issues; and provide guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.Support for DTC Data Governance on privacy issues in connection with the collection, use or sharing of consumer data, including business intelligence, advanced advertising, customer experience, and related business and technology initiatives.Assist attorneys with tracking applicable data privacy, consumer and other regulations and industry standards.Assist with various privacy and regulatory compliance projects and perform other program-related duties as needed at the direction of the DTC group’s Vice President and Senior Vice President, Regulatory Compliance and Privacy.Assist with creating, compiling and distributing training and guidance materials.Develop and maintain systems to track legal approvals.Manage implementation of requirements from NBCUniversal Corporate Privacy, including providing support to Direct-to-Consumer businesses in managing individual rights/data subject rights requests and in operationalizing consent management platforms. Other matters as needed at the direction of Peacock’s General Counsel and Senior Vice President Regulatory Compliance and Data Security.QualificationsQualifications/Requirements:
Minimum of 2+ years (Associate Counsel) of legal experience, including in-house experience, service in a top tier law firm and/or relevant government position.Knowledge of the various US and state data privacy laws, including data protection, retention, security and breach rules.A law degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required.Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of New York or a member in good standing of another State Bar and registered in New York as in-house counsel.Willingness to work nights and on weekends, if needed.Desired Characteristics:
