Job DescriptionRole Purpose
The Associate Counsel/Counsel, Ad Tech & Partnerships will report to the VP, Ad Tech & Partnerships and help support the development, distribution and monetization of data-driven advertising products and services. This role primarily involves drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements in a fast-paced environment and requires a self-starter with a curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about NBCU’s ad technology stack and staying current on developments in caselaw and regulations impacting the digital advertising industry.
Job Duties
Provide legal support to the Data Measurement & Insights (DM&I), Sourcing and Partnerships teams relating to the development of new ad technologies, products and advertising partnerships.Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts with research and measurement companies, data licensors, and other ad tech vendors, as well as partnerships with social media, streaming, gaming and other ad-supported digital platforms.Lead team initiatives such as, improving the contract intake and tracking process, updating contract templates, coordinating information for compliance reviews, and drafting summaries and playbooks.Partner with the Privacy and Information Security teams to ensure personal data and confidential information is collected, used, and secured in accordance with privacy laws and company requirements.Work collaboratively with business executives and lawyers, both within and outside of the business unit, and propose practical, responsive solutions.Stay updated and counsel clients on the latest developments in the legal and regulatory framework impacting digital advertising, including data privacy laws.QualificationsBasic Requirements
JD from an accredited law school and member of a state bar in good standingMinimum of 2 years of experience for Associate Counsel and 4 years for Counsel at a law firm and/or in-house legal departmentExperience drafting and negotiating master service agreements, software-as-a-service agreements, licenses, amendments, SOWs, renewals, and other technology agreements, as well as data privacy and security terms.Desired Characteristics
