Job Summary:
The Associate Counselor position is an exciting opportunity for those passionate about mental health and substance use disorder treatment. You’ll have the chance to work under the close supervision of a Qualified Addiction Professional, gaining valuable experience while supporting clients through their recovery journey. Ideal candidates will be compassionate, have a strong desire to help others, and have the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

In this role, you will assist individuals in accordance with their treatment plans, contributing to the improvement of their mental health and/or substance use disorders. You will develop treatment plans, participate in clinical meetings, and provide essential documentation, all while supporting clients through their recovery process. Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in the screening and assessment process under the supervision of a licensed/qualified counselor or therapist.
· Develop treatment plans for clients based on assessment data, under supervision.
· Participate in clinical staffing and team meetings, offering feedback on pertinent cases.
· Adhere to Collaborative Service Goal (CSG) expectations and provide direct services accordingly.
· Document services provided in accordance with regulatory standards, ensuring timely entries and proper references to treatment plans.
· Ensure that treatment plans and discharge summaries are reviewed and countersigned by a Qualified Addiction Professional.
· Assist with client transitions, completing necessary correspondence.
· Complete required annual training in compliance with ASAM standards.
· Maintain positive professional relationships with clients, referral sources, and coworkers.
· Handle crisis situations as they arise, notifying supervisors as required.
· Facilitate group counseling, education sessions, family conferences, and individual sessions.
· Demonstrate a commitment to both short-term and long-term company goals.

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
· Associate’s degree or high school diploma/equivalent required.
· Must be a trainee meeting registration and supervision requirements as set by the Missouri Credentialing Board or the appropriate state board of professional registration.
· Must be supervised by a Qualified Addiction Professional who has completed MCB Clinical Supervision Training.
 

Additional Qualifications:
· Must have a current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and auto insurance.
· First Aid and CPR certifications required within three months of employment.
· Behavioral Management and Crisis Management training required within thirty (30) days of employment.
· Must complete the annual 50-hour training requirement (Missouri Only).

Physical Requirements:
· Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects.
· Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing.
