Role Description and Expectations
The Associate Creative Director, Copy with an Oncology specialization oversees the copy team from inception to final product and ensures the quality of content and style to meet the client’s marketing strategies and objectives with their copy partner. They are a brand leader with a focus on oncology, solving strategic and creative challenges while enhancing the client’s confidence in the agency. As a people leader, the Associate Creative Director manages and mentors a team of creatives, offering guidance on projects while simultaneously managing a demanding workload.
This role demands a robust understanding of oncology as a therapeutic area, with an emphasis on writing and strategizing for cancer treatments and therapies. The Associate Creative Director must possess advanced knowledge of departmental procedures such as routing, print production, protocols, usage rights of stock and images for layout, as well as creative solutions tailored to oncology marketing.Key Accountabilities:Oncology Expertise: Brings specialized knowledge of oncology treatments, market dynamics, and patient-centric messaging, ensuring sound strategic planning and timely implementation while fostering a solid client relationship.Market Awareness: Demonstrates a full understanding of the oncology marketplace, including trends in cancer treatments, competitive landscape, and clinical advancements.Innovative Problem-Solving: Possesses the ability to translate complex oncology concepts into user-friendly, impactful, and accurate creative work aligned with the client's goals and brand guidelines.Idea Leadership: Contributes innovative ideas specific to oncology marketing strategies that challenge the status quo and enhance patient and healthcare provider engagement.Creative Execution: Leads creative teams to execute high-quality oncology-focused campaigns, providing feedback and oversight to ensure alignment with the client’s therapeutic goals and regulatory requirements.Client Presentation: Oversees the creation of concept roughs and develops compelling, professional presentations tailored to oncology campaigns, effectively communicating the vision to clients.Campaign Leadership: Ensures all creative work reflects a deep understanding of the oncology treatment category and communicates the client’s message with precision and impact.Team Management: Manages and mentors direct reports across oncology brands, fostering a culture of collaboration, diversity, and professional growth.Strategic Alignment: Collaborates with cross-discipline leads to ensure all creative work aligns with overall strategy, budgets, and timelines, particularly in the context of oncology.Key Requirements:Demonstrated expertise in writing and strategizing for oncology brands, with a thorough understanding of treatment categories, clinical developments, and physician specialties.Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex oncology concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.Proven ability to lead creative teams within the oncology space, ensuring work meets industry regulations and client expectations.Established presentation skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with clients in the oncology sector.A strong grasp of oncology-specific market challenges, trends, and clinical needs.Proficiency in collaborative tools and software with solid knowledge of text and creative applications.Education and Experience:Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising/Marketing, Communications, Writing, or a related discipline is preferred.Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of copywriting or creative leadership experience in oncology-focused marketing or healthcare advertising is required.#LI-ML1 #LI-Hybrid
