\nAs an Associate Data Engineer, you will work across a global team of analysts and Data Operations Associates to develop new data technologies for Data Operations at PitchBook. We’re looking for a person who can combine proficiency in data engineering technologies (SQL, Python, AWS, Data Warehousing & ETL tools, Power BI) with an operational mindset and deliver powerful new data sourcing and processing tools to the team. You will be responsible for extracting data from external sources and working alongside senior members of the team to build out the infrastructure necessary to operationalize the data. You will also spend time learning PitchBook’s data operations processes and methodologies, establishing the process knowledge necessary to develop effective data solutions.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
\n\nAutomate collection of data from various sources, including web scraping, API requests, etc.\nDevelop data extraction pipelines by leveraging OCR technology and translations, processing structured and unstructured data\nCreate data entry automation pipelines to import and edit mass volumes of data points\nWork with Data Engineers to build complex data pipelines that automate data sourcing and processing \nDevelop programs to synchronize technology and human-powered processes (human in the loop) \nCollaborate with senior team members to design and maintain database and data warehousing solutions \nPlay a key role in continuing to build out a newly formed data engineering function in the department \nWork alongside Data Operations teams to augment core technologies \nSupport the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors \nParticipate in various company initiatives and projects as requested \n\n\n
Skills and Qualifications:
\n\nBachelor's degree in related field (such as Data Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, or Computer Science)\n1-3 years of relevant experience working in Data Engineering, ETL development, or software engineering with exposure to ELT pipelines, workflow automation, and API development. Ideally in a fintech, financial data, or research-driven company\n1+ year of Python skills with experience in web scraping, OCR, REST APIs, and data manipulation\n2+ years of SQL skills, with experience querying large datasets from multiple sources and optimizing SQL queries for relational databases like PostgreSQL, Snowflake etc.\nFamiliarity with software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design, continuous delivery, git, test automation, and build\\deploy systems)\nHands on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) and one cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.)\nFamiliarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow\nProficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI\nExcellent Microsoft Office/PC skills and advanced Excel experience analyzing data and creating daily/weekly/monthly reports\nAbility to display complex quantitative data in a simple and intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner\nCapable of investigating, familiarizing, and mastering new data sets quickly\nAbility to manage multiple projects/tasks at once\nExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex data issues correctly and clearly to both internal and external customers\nExperience with event-driven architecture and real-time data processing preferred\nKnowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices preferred\nFamiliarity with machine learning workflows and AI-driven data extraction preferred\nProficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily\n\n\n

Compensation
\n\nAnnual base salary: $84,000-$114,000\nTarget annual bonus percentage: 7.5%\n\n\n
*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.

Working Conditions:
\nWe believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.
\nThe job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
