Who You’ll work with
BCN Labs is a Center of Excellence (CoE) functioning akin to a small R&D boutique startup within the Bain ecosystem, delivering end-to-end data driven client deployable solutions across a wide variety of sectors and industries. We work directly with other CoEs and Practices within Bain as part of the Expert Client Delivery system and interface with teams across the globe. We are first and foremost business thought partners working on intelligent ways of using analytical techniques and algorithms across the spectrum of disciplines that can enable building world-class solutions. Our goal is to build a disruptive high-impact business-enabled end-to-end analytical solutions delivery system across all verticals of Bain.
What You Will Do
We are seeking a strong candidate with some experience in advanced analytics who must be a great implementer and have some exposure to the mathematics of the analytical techniques and algorithms to fill an exciting Associate role within BCN Labs. The Associate is expected to have a strong expertise in the implementation of data science techniques along with a willingness to explore the mathematical depths of statistical learning models. An Associate will typically deliver a client use-case end-to-end with a decent level of oversight from at least someone who is a Project Leader or above. They are also expected to have the ability to churn out analytical insights from their implementations and modeling work that can be utilized by their managers to drive business insights and impact.
An Associate is expected to have the ability to:
Break down an analytical problem into its corresponding components in a manner that their team can collaboratively go about tackling the pieces to then conquer the whole Brainstorm on potential models, heuristics, algorithms and techniques and their implementation techniques with their team and the Labs leadership which can devise optimal solutions to not just the problem at hand but also the scalability of the solution Proactively experiment and code using a variety of technologies/languages on their own to ensure zero-defect implementations of their solution(s) Have structured communication skills and a willingness to learn the consulting toolkit to be able to translate analytical insights into business impacts Work on new products and solutions and experiment with data science techniquesThe Associate is expected to seek out challenging problems by coming up with their own heuristics and ideas which they will be encouraged to brainstorm with their peers and managers. They should be willing to learn new techniques and be open to solving problems with an interdisciplinary approach. They must have excellent coding skills and should demonstrate a willingness to be able to write modular, functional codes.
About You
A Bachelors/Masters degree in a field linked to analytics such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, etc. For a Bachelors, a minimum of 2 years of work experience would be required with demonstrated implementation skills. For a Masters at least some internship experience and a strong Masters thesis would be needed. Excellent coding skills in Python and/or R and SQL would be mandatory. Some exposure to and expertise in statistical learning models would also be mandatory. (Good-to-have, but not necessary) Exposure to either AWS or Azure with some experience of deploying Python based solutions on cloud platforms, Airflow, Snowflake, PySpark, Git, Docker, etc. You will fit into our team-oriented structure with a college/hostel-style way of working, having the comfort of reaching out to anyone for support that can enable our clients better Abilities to deliver data-driven projects
