About the Role:
Reporting to the Dean, Innovative Learning, the Associate Dean (DL) plays a strategic role in enhancing teaching and learning excellence by identifying and implementing the latest digital tools, technologies, and platforms. The AD leads the exploration of these tools by monitoring technological trends, conducting viability assessments and forecasting impacts in supporting initiatives like personalized learning. They inform institutional strategy by devising key strategies and recommending technologies for adoption, and once approved for adoption, they oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of instructional technologies.
The AD brings an entrepreneurial mindset in alignment with Humber’s 2030 vision, “Building Brilliance.” As a Polytechnic, we encourage students to explore opportunities both within and outside of their classroom learning, including expanding their side-hustles into start-ups. The AD plays a crucial role in ensuring that faculty, staff, and students have the necessary tools and skills to support and foster these opportunities.
The AD provides leadership and direction to cross-functional teams that coordinate and support Humber’s digital learning strategy, projects, and operations. These teams focus on identifying cutting-edge educational technology to enhance personalization, flexibility, and accessibility. This includes seeking new use cases, making recommendations, and developing resources and support for faculty. The team is also responsible for maintaining, updating, and supporting current tools. As leader of this team, the AD establishes communications within the academic division and across the institution to ensure that faculty are equipped to use AI, the Learning Management System (LMS), and other digital instructional tools effectively, supporting key priorities in teaching and learning.
Working in close collaboration within the Centre for Innovative Learning and across Humber, the incumbent guides the development of digitally supported approaches to curriculum and teaching as well as associated supports for faculty development in alignment with the digital learning strategy, academic plan, and institutional vision.
