Posting Number F-0883 Position Title Associate Dean, Faculty Development College/Unit College of Medicine Home Department College of Medicine Employee Group Medical Faculty Employment Status Full-Time Position Type 12 month Position Classification Medical Faculty Position Begin Date Position End Date Position Summary The Associate Dean provides leadership in faculty development and initiatives that contribute to the strategic priorities of the College of Medicine. The Associate Dean serves as a resource for the Discipline Chairs as they guide and mentor their faculty of all academic ranks and tracks. Advises the Dean on best practices on appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure policies. The Associate Dean oversees the development of educational initiatives, including courses, programs, workshops, seminars, and individualized consultations and mentorship to develop faculty as academicians and leaders. Required Qualifications Doctoral degree (PhD, MD/DO). Must meet rank of at least Associate Professor as outlined in the medical faculty appointment manual. Demonstrated experience in the areas of faulty development in an academic setting. Strong collaborative of interprofessional education. Established credentials and experience in medical education, leadership, and/or administration. Experience developing and mentoring medical school faculty. A record of scholarly activity with the expectation of continued scholarly activity, preferably in educational research, but other areas will be considered. Experience in health professions education and commitment to innovative approaches to education and learning. Ability to facilitate interactive learning in large and small group settings. Demonstrated commitment to diversity. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cross-disciplinary teaching in an integrated medical school curriculum. Experience with, or a strong knowledge of, pedagogical approaches such as team-based learning. Successful attainment of extramural funding.
