No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary The Associate Dean for the School of Education assists and advises the dean of the school on curricular issues, academic policies, student concerns, and educator preparation processes.

The position of associate dean requires a high degree of communication and collaboration with department chairs, academic advisors, program coordinators, and professional staff in a wide range of campus offices. The associate dean also serves on a number of standing committees across the school and the university. In the School of Education, the associate dean is an active member of the Teacher Education Unit who works closely with the dean and the assistant dean for assessment and accreditation in assuring the delivery of high-quality teacher preparation programs across the school and the campus. The position is a 12-month obligation.

Major Responsibilities Policies and Procedures:· Develops, reviews, and upholds policies and procedures related to satisfactory academic standing, academic progress, academic integrity, and eligibility for graduation;· Serves as administrative point-of-contact for students and families regarding academic policies and procedures;· Works effectively and cooperatively with other university offices and departments including but not limited to: the Registrar, Admissions, Advisement and Transition, Human Resources, Student Affairs, other Associate Deans, Deans, etc.Curriculum Development and Review:· Serves as school liaison for curricular changes and review;· Reviews curricular changes proposed by departments.Student Success· Ensures student success by advising students on issues related to registration, academic progress, and degree completion;· Assists at-risk students in understanding and fulfilling their academic goals and responsibilities;· Advises students about opportunities for fellowships, internships, study abroad, and graduate school;· Serves as faculty advisor for Selected Studies in Education and Integrated General Studies majors.Educator Preparation· Supports the Dean of the School of Education in the administration of the Teacher Education Unit;· Leads the work of the School of Education’s Professional Development School Consortium;· Assists with on-going data collection and analysis to maintain compliance with national accreditation standards and state and federal regulations governing educator preparation.· Serves as the chief teacher certification officer for the campus.

Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Dean of the School of Education; Supervises Associate Dean’s Administrative Assistant; Works closely with School of Education Department Chairs and Faculty; Collaborates closely with Associate Deans in School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Professional Studies. Required Qualifications · A terminal degree and record of achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service sufficient for tenure in an academic department in the School of Education.· Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience.· Experience with and knowledge of issues, policies, and regulations related to educator preparation. Preferred Qualifications · Administrative experience at the level of department chair or above.· A demonstrated level of cultural competency in working with diverse student populations· Experience and familiarity with web-based student information and curriculum management systems.· Experience with administration and assessment of educator preparation programs.
