The Associate Dean for Community Standards will oversee a team responsible for a comprehensive response to student behavior that includes attending both to the individual student and the potential impact on the community. This includes a regular review of policy and protocol, working with campus partners to arrive at caring solutions and facilitating campus-wide interventions as part of high-level case management.
Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Students, the portfolio of the area includes student conduct, case management, conflict resolution and proactive education. In addition to this work, the Associate Dean will work collaboratively with campus partners, forming a clear connection between threat assessment, care, and behavioral intervention. This inaugural role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead a new team, creating norms and developmental outcomes across functional areas.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop, implement, and coordinate the enforcement of policies related to student conduct, conflict resolution, and crisis management.
Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
Oversee case management processes, ensuring appropriate and timely support for students in distress or experiencing crises.
Actively participate in the university’s threat and behavioral assessment processes, including intervention and follow-up strategies. Specifically, representing Student Affairs on the Treat Assessment Team and leading a complimentary Behavioral Intervention Team.
Develop and deliver training for staff, faculty, and students on conflict resolution, behavioral threat management, and community standards.
Serve as a liaison between Student Affairs and campus partners, including Public Safety, Office of Equity Diversity, and Inclusion (TIX and civil rights), and various academic units.
Provide leadership in promoting restorative justice and alternative dispute resolution approaches.
Monitor and analyze trends related to student conduct, behavioral issues, and conflict resolution.
Prepare and present reports to university leadership on departmental outcomes and initiatives.
