Location Name New York Office Responsibilities

Note: Looking for experienced candidates in Men's. This position will support Men's Shirt and Knits (cut & sew).

 

The Associate Designer supports the Designer in the Design process by serving as a liaison to Technical Design and Sourcing. Assists in executing all visual materials from the Design department specific to the Design process from Concept to in-store merchandise. Oversees the preparation of presentation Concept boards and Concept Tableaus for all design meetings. Researches latest trends within market. Constant communication with Designer and Design Director to ensure one eye view on research and development.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Collaborate in research and development of seasonal trends (Runway, Magazines, Style blogs, ect).Identify key ideas and images for seasonal concept, design and developmentCollaborate in shopping retail and designer markets to seek new and innovative ideasContribute strong and innovative ideas and designs independentlyWork toward independently owning (from concept to final product) an entire category with guidance and direction from Design Director / VP Design.Follow trends and have knowledge of competitors and aspirational brands for your categoryCreate and present big idea boards at concept/kickoffCreate tech packs, communicate with tech team, drive fits, and work on follow-up issues with productionCollaborate in identifying fabrics and trims for developmentAttend fittings to support Sr. Designer, but also be able to drive fitting for your own categoryCommunicates regularly with Merchant partners to gather input, share ideas and line development direction, and get them on board.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design Experience: 2 – 4 years of full time professional Design experienceCut & Sew Knits experience preferredEye for “Express” brand. Excellent design and sketching skills. Strong fashion and creative ability. Keen trend awareness.Strong organizational skills & ability to manage multiple tasksStrong communication skillsAbility to anticipate nextAbility to work well with multiple team members: Positive Team player attitudeSense of accountability and strong work ethicPunctuality & dependable attendanceProficiency in: WebPDM, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Windows (Outlook / Word / Excel)

Actual compensation offered is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, work location, education, relevant skills and experience of the candidate.

Salary Range $70,200 - $99,700 Closing
