Position Information Posting Number 20113073 Position Title Associate Director, Engagement and Education FTE 1.00 Position Type Staff Department Center for Resiliency Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role: This position is responsible for managing and coordinating all engagement and education efforts for the Center for Resiliency (CfR). This position will work closely with the CfR Executive Director in evaluating the Center’s strategic plan effectiveness in the areas of engagement and education in creating a network hub and data collaborative for the Southeast Texas Region. This position will establish, lead, and manage a local engagement campaign with local government, non-profit, local industry, local business, local health care, and community-based organizations in the Southeast Texas region that supports the community resilience to disaster. This position will provide coordination with education programs such as the creation of a Master of Social Work degree at Lamar University. This position will establish a Gulf Coast region professional association in conjunction with a Gulf Coast region Community Resilience to Disaster conference program and professional / academic journal. What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities: + The Associate Director will establish a Local and Gulf Coast Regional network hub by providing leadership and supervision of local engagement efforts of the Assistant Director for Local Engagement with Southeast Texas community stakeholders as well as engagement with large municipalities, universities, and industry leaders across the Gulf of Mexico from Texas to Florida to support the CfR mission in providing a network hub of community networks in creating community resilience to disaster. + Establish and maintain the Gulf Coast Regional Community Resilience to Disaster Conference program at Lamar University utilizing assigned CfR staff and in coordination with the Lamar University Associate Director for Conferences. + Establish and maintain a Gulf Coast Regional Community Resilience to Disaster Association at Lamar University utilizing assigned CfR staff. + Establish and maintain a Gulf Coast Regional Community Resilience to Disaster professional / academic journal utilizing assigned CfR staff. + Manage and coordinate all Bachelor and Master of Social Work Internship activity within the CfR and coordinate the CfR funded Internship program partnership with the southeast Texas Community. + Advise the CfR Executive Director on engagement and education function strategic planning. + Coordinate community partnerships with the CfR Associate Director of Research and Data Management to support research efforts. + Coordinate with the CfR Operations Manager to support website and social media presence and the CfR advertising campaign. Key Competencies: + General understanding of community engagement activities. + Familiarity with best practices in macro level program establishment and maintenance for professional association, conference, and journal operations. + Ability to lead and manage CfR staff and student internships. + Ability to coordinate external resources to support Association, Journal, and Conference efforts. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively. + Effective communication and time management skills. + Proficiency in computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. + Demonstrated commitment to service to the university, profession, and community. + Demonstrate strategic planning capability. Physical Requirements: Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings. Sitting most of the time. Job Conditions: Typical schedule is M-F 8am-5pm. This position supports essential functions of the Center for Resiliency and Lamar University and will occasionally work outside of normal business hours. This position will require occasional travel outside of Texas for Gulf Coast engagement and conference activities.
