**Job Summary**
The Associate Director for Faculty Outreach and Community Education is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining university accessibility, awareness programming and outreach efforts for faculty, staff, and graduate and professional students. This position is a consulting resource for faculty and staff on disability topics and accommodations. The Associate Director works with campus stakeholders to assess current training, recommend and develop campus-wide educational programming and establish measurable goals and key performance indicators for tracking and reporting on the progress of education and outreach efforts.
The Associate Director participates in university-wide initiatives related to developing and implanting alternative complaint resolution and restorative practices. This position is responsible for comprehensively applying university policies and compliance requirements to programming for the campus community. In collaboration with key university colleagues and stakeholders, this position builds upon effective partnerships and is a close resource for the various schools and academic departments. Associate Director also supervises a team in CDA and has a small caseload assisting students with accommodations.
**Responsibilities**
Develops and implements policies, programs, and financial objectives for assigned departments in
relation to education and student services functions
Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to) within the Center for Disability and Access:
1. Direct and support the development and implementation of university-wide outreach,
programming, and training for faculty, staff, and graduate and professional students related to
university policies and federal and state regulations.
2. Serve as a strategic outreach advisor and consultant to faculty and staff on efforts to address
accommodations and universal design.
3. Provide technical assistance to faculty and graduate teaching students on the software named
Clockwork accommodations (or a similar program including Accommodate or AIM ) that organizes
and manages the day-to-day accommodation activities that are provided to students with
disabilities at the University of Utah.
4. Collaborate with other campus offices and departments to develop, implement and educate
university faculty, staff and graduate and professional students on disability campus access.
5. Strategically lead, develop, and deliver programming (e.g. training, workshops, and panel
discussions) on topics related to disability, accommodations, and universal design.
6. Ensure all programming complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, university
policies, staff, graduate and professional students, provide relevant reports and metrics to the
Director of CDA and colleagues, and make data-driven recommendations for addressing gaps and
developing new approaches.
7. Serve as a primary resource and subject matter expert for graduate and professional student
programs.
8. Facilitate conversations with campus community including difficult conversations and using
mediation skills for tense situations.
9. Direct processes and supervise a team for specialized services within the Center for Disability and
Access.
10. Supervises a team providing accommodations.
11. Has a small caseload providing accommodations

**Minimum Qualifications**
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Rehabilitation counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Special Education.

**Preferences**
+ Masters degree in rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, or special education.
+ A Bachelors degree in a relevant field with a minimum of eight years of relevant or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Teaching in higher education preferred
