Associate Director, Fixed Income Market Risk

What is the Opportunity?

Provide independent and effective monitoring, control, and communications of market risk across RBC’s Global Spread Products business, which includes Loan and HY Bond Trading, Distressed Credit, and CLO Trading. This individual will partner with stakeholders across the business, risk management and technology to ensure market risk is well captured and understood.

What will you do?

Provide market risk oversight for RBC’s Global Spread Products business and develop subject matter expertise in designated desks.

Support the management of market risk reporting process and ensure accuracy of key risk measurements.

Analyze key trading strategies and products to ensure they are in line with RBC risk tolerance and objectives.

Implement changes and improvements to the risk processes as required by new strategies and regulations.

Monitor changes in portfolio and market to extract value-added insight for senior management.

Review significant transactions to help facilitate business and ensure proper risk controls.

Play a lead role in enhancing the GRM on desk risk systems

Drive strategic and tactical projects forward that may involve Python

Collaborate with trading teams to ensure cohesion on key risk issues: systems, limits, risk management

What do you need to succeed?

5+ years of experiences in market risk, preferably with exposure to credit products

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field

Strong communication and presentation skills

Detail-oriented and action-oriented individual who continually strives for improvement

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $110,000 - $190,000 (New York) depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
