Job Description The US healthcare system is complex and evolving. For AbbVie to lead the industry in this environment, it is vital that our US Market Access (USMAx) Strategy and Pipeline Team thoroughly comprehend the current and future state of the evolving US healthcare space and market access channels. The Associate Director, USMAx Pipeline, Immunology Small Programs & Emerging Assets will lead development of US market access strategies for small programs and emerging assets in Immunology. The Associate Director will integrate understanding of the complex US health system and evolving requirements of US payers into early asset development. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of US private and public payer segments to bring the voice of US payers to our early drug development process. The candidate can think strategically and critically and build strong and trusting relationships for cross-functional influence with peers. The Associate Director will fully integrate into the AbbVie Pipeline Commercialization Model including co-leadership of the Value and Access Teams (VATs) with International Market Access (IMAP) colleagues and membership on the Asset Strategy Team and other deliverable teams. The ideal candidate should have a track record of influencing without authority, experience in US payer marketing strategy development, an understanding of the AbbVie Pipeline Commercialization Model.  Responsibilities + Develop draft US market access strategies for assigned assets that reflect a robust analysis of the access landscape including channel mix, current coverage, competitive dynamics (entrants and LOEs), payer unmet need and willingness to pay, Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) implications, and consideration of the impact of different future payer management strategies. Strategies should clearly call out risks while also providing direction on feasible mitigation strategies. Align strategies within Immunology Pipeline Team. + Work effectively in the AbbVie pipeline commercialization model (PCM), including co-leadership of VATs, core membership in Brand Strategy Teams (BST), Touch Point process and by providing clear and compelling guidance to cross-functional teams on functional actions they can take to support achievement value maximization. + Develop landscape analysis for inclusion in Disease Area Strategies and align within Immunology Pipeline Team. + Work effectively within USMAx ensuring alignment with Market Access Marketing (MAM) peers on market strategy for any pipeline indication that is also on market (eg, atopic dermatitis). + Present MAM aligned point of view at USMAx governance while also representing cross-functional interests to support full appreciation by and effective engagement with USMAx Leadership Team. + Inform Clinical Development Programs such that endpoints and evidence generation plans (i.e. clinical, economic and humanistic outcomes) are incorporated that will support optimized patient access. + Establish relationships with peers in key functions including MAM, Asset Strategy Leads, Pipeline Commercial Strategy, HEOR, Market Analytics and Insights, US Pricing, International Market Access and US Government Affairs, US Public Affairs, and US Medical Affairs. + Deliver frameworks and/or analysis that support a clear point of view in Immunology on key areas of interest (eg, payer acceptance of precision medicine, evidence framework, indication sequencing) Qualifications + Subject matter expertise relevant to commercial and government payers is required, knowledge of ex-US health systems and payers is a plus + Strong strategic thinking and developing business acumen and communications skills required + Emerging ability to influence without authority required + 2-3 years of US market access experience preferred + Experience in leading primary and secondary payer research projects to inform payer insights, value drivers and channel strategies + Knowledge of government contracting, acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors + Broad therapeutic area expertise in Immunology disease areas preferred Additional Information Applicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law: ​ ​ + The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
