Associate Director, Product Software Engineering

About the Role:

As an Associate Director, Software Engineering, you will provide leadership and guidance to multiple software teams, building world-class enterprise solutions for Tax & Accounting professionals. You will work with senior engineering leaders within Wolters Kluwer to deploy solutions globally and integrate with multiple platforms and software systems. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of agility, psychological safety, building human capital, promoting continuous SDLC improvement, and evolving the team’s core capabilities.

Responsibilities:

Product Delivery: make critical decisions related to project delivery, resource allocation, and technical approaches meeting tight deadlines and global delivery calendars.Technical Problem Solving: solve complex problems, provide innovative solutions, ensure technical feasibility and performance standards, overcome technical challenges in product development in alignment with overall business objectives. Focus on innovation and staying updated with emerging technologies.Communications and Influence: effectively communicate and influence in a matrixed organization with global engineering partners, product managers, project managers, architects, and subordinates to ensure alignment and collaboration.Build an agile organization: fostering a culture of engineering excellence, continuous improvement of the SDLC, and evolving the team’s core capabilities.Productivity Enhancements: increase team productivity by removing flow blockers and usage of the right tools, processes, and technologies such as GitHub Copilot.Talent Development: invest time, effort, and energy in coaching, mentoring, training, building human capital, providing opportunities for skill growth and career advancement, and a strong pipeline of future leaders.Build Positive Culture: establish psychological safety, inclusive culture, and maintain positive interpersonal relationships within the team and across departments.Managing 3rd Party Providers: establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with 3rd party service providers inside and outside Wolters Kluwer.

Qualifications: 

Minimum of 10 years experience with 2 years in similar role with experience in leading managers and working in a matrix environment with distributed teams.


Implementation and Delivery: delivery for a global team is complex and needs the ability to think multiple dimensions, understand constraints, and deal with many dependencies. The candidate must provide evidence for their ability to translate business goals and GTM objectives into delivery plans, resource allocation, milestones, and release schedules. Putting the proper measures in place to oversee the delivery and mitigate risks.

Agility: candidates must have the ability to swiftly and effectively respond to changes by showing flexibility in choosing the right approach for complex problems, understanding and implement adaptive planning and providing rapid responses.

People management: the associate director in this role will be leading a team of seasoned managers and technical leads. Candidates must have the skills and experience to motivate, engage and communicate effectively with a team. This includes skills in delegation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and understanding team dynamics. It also involves building a strong team culture and managing individual performance.
 

Technical Skills: strong technical acumen and mastery with 10+ years of experience in the following areas:

Product Software Engineering: designing, developing, testing, and deploying cloud software solutions and services. Proven track record of understanding user needs, defining functional specifications, designing system architecture, coding, debugging, and ensuring product quality. Knowledge of various programming languages, tools and methodologies. Deep understanding of best practices and industry standards.DevSecOps & Cloud Computing: managing and optimizing cloud environments. Understanding cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, along with their respective services. Implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes. Utilizing IaC tools like Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure.QA Automation: proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining test automation frameworks using tools like Selenium, with deep understanding of various types of testing such as functional, performance, and regression testing,

Data Engineering and Analytics: Proficiency in using Databricks for building and managing ETL pipelines. Data governance and understanding and leveraging data lakes for unified data analytics. Is a PLUS.

Expertise in the tax and accounting domain: can be a significant advantage for the candidate.
